Steps to Remove “Archives” from Titles in WordPress (Yoast SEO)

If you’ve noticed that some pages on your WordPress website display the word “Archives” in their title when viewed on Google search results, it’s because WordPress automatically labels category and archive pages as such. This is particularly common when using SEO plugins like Yoast.

This can negatively impact your site’s search engine optimisation (SEO) by making page titles look less clean and professional. Fortunately, you can easily remove “Archives” from these titles within your WordPress settings.

🔹 Steps to Remove “Archives” from Titles in WordPress (Yoast SEO)

1️⃣ Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
2️⃣ Navigate to Yoast SEOSearch Appearance.
3️⃣ Click on the Taxonomies tab.
4️⃣ Under SEO Title, you will see a text box with various title elements, including “Archives”.
5️⃣ Click inside the text box and remove the word “Archives” from the title template.
6️⃣ Scroll down and click the Save Changes button.

This will stop Yoast from adding “Archives” to the titles of category pages, improving their appearance in search results and enhancing user experience.

🔹 Why Should You Remove “Archives”?

Cleaner, more professional-looking titles in search results.
Improved SEO rankings by making category pages more user-friendly.
Better user experience by avoiding unnecessary technical terms in page titles.
